BOTH indicates a quantity of two. Compare the following:

  • Do you like Adidas or Puma? I like them both
  • Both companies come from Germany.

EITHER indicates a choice between two alternatives.
NEITHER combines two negative ideas.

  • You can either have the cotton shirt or the silk shirt. Not both of them.
  • Neither Rudolph nor Adolf want to talk.
